How to have a Victorian Wedding

A Victorian wedding is about class and grace. The bride usually wears low heels, a traditional white dress made of silk or linen or lace. A Victorian wedding dress has a long veil which is made from sheer cotton or lace and the bride usually wears a diamond tiara and/or holds a flower garland or bouquet. She would wear jewellery which is a family heirloom or jewellery which is a gift from the groom. The most popular jewellery which is to be gifted is diamond and pearls. The bridesmaids would also wear a white dress. Unlike modern weddings, where bridesmaids leave their head open, in a Victorian wedding, the bridesmaid also covers her head with a veil which is shorter than the bride’s veil. The bridesmaids would wear flats and only the bride would wear heels. Also, the dresses of bridesmaids would be functional so that they could wear it later on and they would become a part of their daily wardrobe after the wedding. The groom would wear clothes of colour. He would wear blue or mulberry or claret-coloured coat with the white shirt inside and grey coloured trousers. The best men would wear similar clothes.

However, they would fashion their outfit with a black hat and a flower in their lapel. There would also be children in the procession. Young girls would be flower girls or ring bearers and would wear white dresses with ribbon-ed sashes which would match their shoes and stockings. Young boys would hold the bride’s long dress. Young boys would be dressed in velvet jackets in colours like blue, black, green or red. A Victorian wedding would be like a traditional wedding. It would have class and elegance and it would seem dreamy. It is very essential to capture the image of such a beautiful sight. For a Victorian wedding photography, consider Royal Memories.
